Simon is also a professional Karate instructor currently graded to 5th Dan. His martial arts experiences date back to the early 1970's, where he was a former international competitor, captain of the SEKU Team and member of the England All Styles Karate Squad. In addition Simon works with the Armed forces as well as many private security companies.
In 1983 Simon founded the Winchester Shotokan Karate Do (Now the Hampshire Traditional Karate Academy), which now after twenty five years is Winchester's oldest karate club.
Simon is also the senior instructor at the Winchester College, Bedales School, St Swithuns Girls School and Southampton University.
Since 1989 Simon has been studying Okinawan Goju Ryu Karate under his teacher Sensei George Andrews 7th Dan I.O.G.K.F. All his dojo's are now part of O.T.G.K.A. and are practising the Okinawan Goju Ryu style of Karate.
Simon is a qualified Shiatsu tutor with the International Shiatsu Association and runs Shiatsu South (traditional Shiatsu).
Simon lives in Hampshire where he is married to Kitty and when he has time trains in the English Longbow.
